So You Want to Be A Writer?
My muse has taken over
A writing spree I'm in
There is nothing that can stop it
But to see the story's end
And then I'll make another
For addiction holds me fast
I will write and write forever
Until the day I pass
My stories shall live on
Though my body it shall fade
For I put my soul into them
With every one I've made.
So you want to be a writer?
I will tell you all you need
To make a story flourish
You just cut your soul and bleed
For though the plot is bone
And the characters are flesh
If -you- don't give it blood and soul
The story's left bereft
The explanation's simple
But the method few can bold
For they only give
It's more than a craving; it's more than a need.
It's the spirit inside, waiting to be freed.
It's the words on a page; it's the notes in a song.
Paint on a brush, and waiting all day long
For the perfect lighting, the look that's just right,
Whether it's first in the morning, or up all night.
It's the beat of the artist, the things that we feel,
And the tools that we use to make the ideas real.
A laptop or pen, paper or pliers
Whatever it is, it lights our fires,
Makes us burn with pride, keeps imagination alive,
So we can say 'we are the artists and we have arrived.'
